    US WWII Pick Mattock, Diamond Calk 1944, pickaxe trencher, used, good
    The Diamond Calk Horseshoe Company of Duluth, Minnesota , USA was founded in 1908 by blacksmith Otto Swanstrom. Initially manufacturing horseshoes with a special type of calk to improve the animals' foothold on slippery surfaces.  His company was pressed into service in WWII to produce other tools.  SIZE: Handle length is 18 inches.  Blade length is 13.5 inches tip of pick to edge of blade. Blade width is about 2 3/8 inches. The head is riveted to the handle. This is really in great condition for its age
