Description
This is an ORIGINAL Ordnance Department "OF" wristwatch of the type which was issued during WWII to artillerymen, paratroopers, officers and other military occupation specialties which required an accurate timepiece with a hacking feature (The "hack" is the ability to pull the crown out and stop the movement in order to "synchronize watches"). This watch is essentially the same watch issued as the AAF Type A-11 to aircrewmen of the USAAF, but is much rarer than the A-11. The watch was just cleaned and is in fine running order and keeps good time. The three-piece Keystone case is also in VERY GOOD condition with a few scratches and the dial and hands are also in VERY GOOD original condition. The watch has a new PX type band installed. Original Type A-1 one-piece bands in unissued condition are available separately for in one of my other eBay listings.
The case back states it is an Elgin Grade 554, but the movement is actually a Grade 539, so the case is a "mismatch".
However, other than that the watch case and movement are in VERY GOOD used condition.
