    Description
    This is an ORIGINAL and UNISSUED condition example of the "tinned" Carlisle Bandage which all GI's and Marines carried in their first aid pouches during WWII. The cloth bandage and package of Sulfanilamide "wound powder" are sealed in an unopened metal container which is painted flat olive drab, making the markings difficult to see in the image above. The bandages were termed "camouflaged" because of the flat OD paint and the fact that previous bandages' exteriors had either gloss OD paint or, in the beginning, a salmon-colored paint, neither obviously not inconspicuous. The bandages were manufactured by the Handy Pad Supply Co. of Worcester, Mass. and come out of a box of ten bandages bearing a date of June 25, 1943.  Here's an opportunity for the collector or re-enactor requiring a Carlisle bandage to obtain one in pristine condition.  The buyer will have my usual unconditional guarantee of authenticity and a five-day (

    ) right of inspection and return/refund privilege, excluding postage.
