    Description

Offered for your consideration is a very interesting lot of original World War Two US Field Gear. I recently acquired this from the estate of the vet (who served in both WW2 and Korea), along with the M1 Garand bayonet (recently sold) and the cleaning kit listed in another auction. All of the gear sat in a trunk in their attic since his return home from the field. I would describe the M-1945 pack (made by Hinson) and the suspenders (Champion Canvas Co.) as in excellent, complete condition for their age. The .30 caliber cartridge belt (Forrest A. Heath Co.)is in excellent condition and each cartridge pouch still has what looks to be cardboard from .30 cal en-bloc clips. The canteen (AGM Co. 1945) is in very cold condition and is complete with cover (Polk Mfg. Co. 1945) and cup. The Carlisle bandage first aid kit (with crystalline sulfanilamide) is unopened and retains its original paint. The pouch (B.A.B. Co. 1943) is excellent and well-marked. The mess kit is in very good condition. I cannot make out either the date or the manufacturer but the US marking is visible (with a bit of looking). The fork, spoon and knife are each well-marked and are each World War One dated (1918,1917 and 1917 marked, respectively), as was common with WW2 field-issue cutlery. The magnetic compass is Swiss made by Plan Ltd and is marked US Engineer Corps. I have not tried to determine if the compass works and I offer it as a collectible (hopefully it works, but I make no representations in that regard). The e-tool shows a lot of honest field use and is VERY salty. It is, however, complete and the handle retains its original paint. The cover is 1945 dated and made by Avery. None of the items have been cleaned or messed with...they are all just as I acquired them. Overall, a very interesting, wartime used, lot of US military history that eliminates the need to find a load of items piecemeal.
